How can I get rid of a cat urine smell in our new home?

We just purchased a new home and they kept cats in the sun room. We tore up the carpet and used an alcohol based primer on the concrete floor and walls. We’ve also washed all the woodwork and rubbed pure vanilla into it. IT STILL STINKS! I think the smell is coming from the woodwork, but I’d take suggestions for the whole room because I’m not sure. Anybody have any experience with us?

Disabled, selling my house, where do I begin?

I’m disabled, live alone and still dealing with effects of Katrina. I need to sell my home so I don’t lose it but don’t know where to begin.

It’s a cute house, but needs several minor repairs and clean up. Pressure washing house and drive, minor plumbing, carpet pulled up and lino put down in 2 rooms; is stained, some painting. The fence is broken at the bottem from the kids and dogs next door.
If some repairs aren’t done how much does that effect the selling price, or do they overlook some things?

I can’t find a hanyman despite asking everywhere in town. Seems they are all working on bigger construction since the area is booming.

Is it difficult to handle the sale myself? Ideas as to what % realtors get?
Does the equity/check come directly to me right after the sale? I have a student loan that is overdue, though I paid regularly before I had my accident. My dire needs have to come first right now.Any chance ‘they’ could take that before or after I receive it?

PS I thought of renting it, but am told the only the homeowner can live here, and the ins. companies are not offering rental insurance. We cannot switch ins.co. because none are accepting new clients in La.
I called just to inquire, and my ins. co was rude and said if they did an inspection and ‘found out’ I didn’t live here, they would cancel my policy. Any way I could rent it?
I was denied an equity loan due to my credit rating dropping after the storm; everyone’s did.

I need some help/tips on painting and decorating my living room?

We are painting our living room but I am trying to decide how would be best. The carpet and furniture are pretty close to the same color- off white/ cream. There is also a thick “chair rail” about 1/3 of the way up the wall. This and the other woodwork in the room (doorways and beams across the ceiling) are a dark brown wood, almost black. I don’t know if I can paint that.

I was thinking a blue for the room… at first I was thinking blue on the bottom and leaving the white above the chair rail. Now I’m not so sure.

ANY ideas you have are welcome! Thanks!
Those are pretty much the only colors- and the walls are off white but again we are looking at painting them. The coffee tables are a medium shade of brown wood.

Help with painting my room?

Okay soo I need my room to be blue and green. I have light green carpet. But I am 14 so it cant be like light green and light blue cause that would look like an old lady room. I have wood going halfway down the walls. I can paint the wood. What could I paint my walls and make it look sweet??

my boyfriend wants to repaint his room…right now its floor is a dark green carpet. he cant change that, but he wants to change the wall do another color…he doesnt want a red bc it would be christmasy and he doesnt want a brown bc its too outdoorsy…any good ideas?

How Do I Get Rid of the Smell of Dog from My Bedroom?

Please, any help is needed. I am about to move out of my home, and need to find a way to make my bedroom smell better so somebody will actually want to buy my cute house. I currently have 3 dogs and over the past 3 years they have had the occasional accident on the carpet. And their crates were all in that room. So it currently smells like Dog Funk City. It’s a carpeted bedroom. I am going to shampoo the carpet after I move out, but I’m afraid the smell just won’t leave. Any tips???
Alright Sarah, the retarded, pissed off girl. First of all, the carpet looks great. I am not trying to pawn off my soiled carpet on some unsuspecting buyer. After all, that IS what open houses are for. And for your information i live where it is below freezing for most of the year. So there is no other option than to keep the dogs in the bedroom. Are you trying to be one of those “dogs belong outside” people?! And are you suggesting that my dogs having accidents is my fault? Sorry, but one dog has an unpredictable medical condition. So let’s just ignore your entire comment. You obviously just need to leave this conversation. And a tip–if you’re so upset about rentals with ruined carpet, don’t rent!

What color should I paint a room with all GREEN components?

My living room/kitchen are attached. Right now the wall color is a neutral cream color, it’s pretty bland. My mother wants to paint the room green, but I think it will make way too much green in the room (the carpet is green, counters, parts of the kitchen tile, green leaves on the curtains). Is there a complementary color that would go good on the walls instead of more green?

re decorate room?

girl. 13. i just got my room re painted last month. it went from this yucky mustard sorta yellow to white! yes!!!!!!!! it’s all black and white- black being the accent color. But, I have a torquoise colored carpet! =/ I was wondering what I could do to make it look more “girly teenager-ish.” i know i need to get black furniture but then i don’t know if I should throw it some pink to make it black, white, pink, and torquoise? Or maybe lime green? (except my friend has her entire room lime green and torquoise blue.) Suggestions and ideas please!!!!! =) LOW budget and my room is super small!!! THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
