How much can a landlord/ management company raise your rent in one month?

My rent was $1700 a month, the management company raise the rent to $2200 a month. We are on a month to month lease, is this raise legal. Isn’t there a law liminting the amount of rent raise in one month. Two weeks ago a worker came to our apartment and to checked it out, she emphasized that she wasn’t going to raise our rent… Any thing I can do? Oh yea, living in California.

I am renting out my house and the tenant is behind on rent? They want to renew a month to month after their lease is up? They said that they don’t need to pay all the money as long as they are paying some money.

I am a 61 yr old female, and would feel more comfortable living in a private home.
Can someone suggest ways that I might search for one to rent? I have tried all the local papers, but, may not be looking in the right catergory. I am very stable 61 yr. old lady and would be much more comfortable living in a private home than an apartment.

How do I get my 19 year old roommate out of my apt, I am a student and I sublet a room in my apartment in NY.

I made a mistake last month by subleting a room in my apartment to a 19 yrs old girl,totally irrespossible, noisy and selfish. Iam a male medical student and talked to her about noise and later asked her to move out. But she refuses to move out.We have stopped talking. The apartment is in my name and I have been living here for 10 yrs. She has paid me the September rent and deposit in Cash. Iam in a very bad fix and I just do not have any time for any legal action because of my exams almost every week. Anyway FYI - subletting a room in New York is illegal. But all of us do it just to break the crazy rents in NY. Iam planning to talk to her and give her until end of October.

Is the landlord responsible for anything on my part. I have paid my rent on time and a week in advance. I have all documentation regarding that. Can she save the property and get it out of foreclosure? Can i take her to court for anything?

-Separated since 2004, finalized divorce early this year.
-I have a better than decent relationship with my ex, we have a kid. I end up with the house, he moved out but to a situation in which I was uncomfortable having my daughter being brought in during the weekend. The house is big and to supply for my income I was going to rent a room. He wanted to move out from where he was & ask if I could rent it to him. I accepted.
- There are no sexual relations between him and me, is more like roommates. There aren’t discussions nor drama in my house. Our kid is really happy having both her parents available at any time. My ex is having a new house build and it should be finalized by December.
- My ex, dates several women at one time.
- I started dating this guy recently. We meet about 5 months ago and until now we have gotten serious. He knows all about my living situation, and seems to be ok with it.

BTW: My ex is taking about continue renting the room from me and rent out his new house. The current living arrangement we have allows both of us to go out on dates, work school and our daughter is always at home with one parent

Accommodations for a group of 6 in Toronto?

I’m planning a trip to Toronto with 6 girlfriends. Is there any place that can accommodate us where we could all stay together instead of having to split up into multiple rooms? We went to Montreal last year and stayed at a B&B where the owner set us all up in the finished basement with extra beds and mattresses. It was great, like a slumber party. If there’s any place like that in Toronto, or if any there are any townhouses I could rent for a weekend, please let me know!

I have read that some colleges and universities in the United States and Canada will rent out their dormitories during the summer months to earn extra money. Any idea which universities do this or where I could find out which ones do? Thanks in advance.
